For the Ride Home
by Ted Bergh
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
January 25, 2009
Scripture
•Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and announce to it the message that I will tell you
(Jonah 3:3)
•Your ways, O LORD, make known to me; teach me your paths. (Psalm 25:4)
•For the world in its present form is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:31b)
•
Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men. (Mark 1:17)
•They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. (Mark 1:19b)
Reflection
•How is God present in the world?
•How is your world changing?
•What more can you do to change the world?
Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final, way.
What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything.
It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you will do with your evenings, how you will spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.1
