Readers’ Reflections on the Eucharist
What does the Eucharist mean to you?
—from online submissions (Selected reflections were published in an article in St. Anthony Messenger magazine.)
Thanksgiving
The Eucharist means 'thanksgiving.' Each time the Eucharist is celebrated, we are giving thanks to God who offered himself as a sacrificial lamb for us. By partaking in this sacrifice and receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we enter into communion with the Triune God and with one another.

Source of Strength
Eucharist means a lot to me. It is a bread of life. The only source of strength especially to the weak. And above all, Our Jesus Christ is the Eucharist.

Sacrifice
All of my sacrifices that I have made out of love for others finds its meaning in the sacrifical love of Christ for us in the Eucharist.

Accepting God
Eucharist means that we are accepting God in our lives. That's why we have to eat the bread with a clean soul meaning that we should be free of sins before we go to the eucharist.

Appreciation
THE HOLY EUCHARIST MEANS A LOT TO ME. THIS IS A SPECIAL SACRAMENT THAT YOU RECEIVE GOD AND EVERY TIME YOU EAT THE BODY OR DRINK HIS BLOOD YOU ARE SHOWING HIM YOU APPRECIATE HIM.

True Presence
One must believe that Christ exists and is alive in a spiritual state in heaven today. And if we believe that he promised his presence in the Bread and Wine and told the apostles to do this in Rememberance of Me, this is no big feat for Christ. Therefore it's not so hard to believe his presence in the Eucharist.

Meaning
I believe that the Eucharist is a sign of God, and why we receive him is so important. Unlike other religions, we as Catholics consume him every Sunday. That really sets us apart from others. To consume Christ like that means a lot.
