This is a cheerfully chaotic event held annually at St Margaret's. People bring all kinds of animals to be blessed. Both human and animal treats are served, personalized certificates are given, and there is much sniffing, licking, and milling about! Most of the animals are dogs, but we also have blessed cats, snakes, hamsters, chickens, horses, and walking sticks (one was climbing up the wall to the church, so it was blessed in transit). The blessing is held in honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, who loved all of God's creatures. Please arrive ensconced in your favorite cage or wearing your finest leash. Creatures of all religious beliefs are welcome. A blessing certificate and St. Francis medal will be given to each creature who wants one.
